Default Jet preformace chip

Ok heres the deal i have a 94 1500 with a 7 inch lift running 35s and the guy i bought it from had a jet proformace chip for it and gave it to me when i bought it he said that he took it off because it set the check engien light off. Is that normal for this chip? Also do you think i should reinstall the chip? Will it affect my gas milage anymore than it allready is affected with the 35s? thanks for your help

I haven't seen that before but what I have noticed about the Jet chips is that after driving with them for a period of time the PCM compensates for the changes the chip did and basically runs stock again, so my buddy took his off drove it about 150 miles with it off then put it back on and bam, a whole new vehicle.

I just think jet sucks and makes half *** products.

I think Jet is made by the same company that makes Bully Dog products,their Diesel engineproductsare much better than their gasoline engine products.

Dragstrip testing it hurt my 1/4m performance having the Jet stgII on my 5.9. Ran faster with stock computer.WOT it would bogg a bit though at partial throttle a bitsnappier on the throttle response. Itried testing after200mile learning making passes and also reseting the pcmright before a passes and results werethe same.

JET = PAPER WEIGHT

hypertech makes a good chip for the 5.2/5.9's. my buddy has one for her 5.2 and loves it. made a huge difference. i had a jet chip on my 89 suburban with the 350, and i had the hypertech. i liked the hypertech much better.

here let me finish off your sublect for you " Jet preformace chips are crap"

the pcm will learn its there, then learn how to work around it rendering it useless...as for it setting off a CEL it passably could

I also had a jet and after a few miles lost all performance that I initially gained. Never did get a CEL.
