Is the tweeter seperate or a component of the 6x9 woofer? I would like to know before I start pulling pieces off. If they are seperate, I'm going to get a basic 6x9 and seperate tweeter, whereas if they are components, I will get a set of Comp. Speakers.

The factory Infinity has a seperate tweeter. It's either in the door panel near the top or on the A pillar for the 98+ trucks

 

Does the tweeter run off a seperate amp?

 

Hmmmm. I know it runs off off the stock speaker which has an amp which is built in to it. I don't know if it runs off the speakers amp or the radio's internal amp. Either way all speakers have to run off of some amplifier.

What exactly are you trying to do?

 

I want to replace my speakers with a pair of compenent speakers, BUT if I can get away with a 3-way 6x9 and a seperate tweeter, that would be what I prefer. Little cheaper that way. But compenents are probably the way I go. Saw some MB Quarts for 130.00.
