Seeing how the post is up, I have high mileage on my 5.9 too. What are the different engine options for replacement? I am sure I will get another year out of her but it is never to early to start thinking about these things.
Has anyone put a different engine in?

I know someone will ask this too so:
The truck is in excellent condition, the interior is perfect. I also just put a new tranny in. I would like to keep this truck as i really enjoy it. I know it would probably be cheaper to buy something else but to be honest i would rather keep it, put a new engine in, and enjoy it.

I have read alot about the Mopar crate 360's so right now that is a good option. I have thought about the v10 but i don't know if i can sacrafise that much gas mileage for the minimal towing i do.

Any help or thoughts are much appreciated guys!

The V10 is sweet, but you can do a lot more to a 360 performance wise cheaper and get more hp. Although I always thought the V8 badges would look nice with a "+2" next to it

the 5.9L magnum motor will last for a very long time and is thestrongest most lasting motor chrysler has ever built...i think in my opinion it would be a big mistake to put the 5.7L Hemi motor in...sure it is doable and i have seen it done with very little modification and a couple hundred dollars but for what you want is performance just stay with the stronger motor which is the 5.9L magnum...i have had the oportunity to do this swap and many of my co-workers at the dealership have told me it is a waste of my money on a worthless overrated motor...just keep on top of your maintance on the magnum and the motor should last an easy 500,000 miles...you can also get more performance out of the magnum too
