Default radio draining battery?

I've recently had some problems with my stock radio not working. There are times that I start my pickup and it doesn't work at all or there are sometimes that it works and I can't change the station or adjust the volume. I thought I had it figured out when I pulled one of the fuses out and replaced it. Not too much longer the problem occured again. The fuses are not burning out, but putting a new one in seems to make it work again. The next problem I had was that my battery was getting drained to the point that it the pickup wouldn't start. I then replaced the battery with a new one because it was the original battery from 1999. I thought that might take care of the problem but I just went to start my truck and that battery is dead. I think there is some connection between the radio causing problems and the battery being drained. Does someone have any suggestions? Is there another fuse somewhere behind the radio in the dash?

check your grounds, and clean up any corrosion. then report back.

also there is a search feature at the bottom of the page... very useful.

Get yourself an aftermarket stereo if its the problem, otherwise I dont see how the stereo is draining the battery if the trucks off, I had similar issues with the battery being drained when the trucks off and it turned out that the underhood light clicked on and never went off, took the lightout and that fixed the problem.

try pulling your IDO fuse and raido fuse when the truck is off, if your bat dosent drain then its not the raido, however if the raido is doing funky things i would suspect there is a short in it
