Palco Dash Cover with Pics
I know a guy who has a 2001 with 88,000 and I counted 12 cracks in his dash. But he does'nt have tinted windows, he is a smoker(I guess that could count as tinted windows;Tar), and gets his oil changed at Walmart.
I have mine tinted 20% on the side and tha factory stained in the back I'm an on/off smoker and I do my oil changes at the fire house and use there $hit lol. Oh and leave the oil in there tank out back. It's a tank just for used motor oil.
I just threw in the Walmart thing because it shows just how much he cares for it.
The 2nd owner of my truck was a light smoker, but it has been cleaned out really good. You can't even smell the smoke residue (or whatever) anymore.

Squirrels, thanks for posting the picks. I have the same dash topper from LMC. I'm dreading having to put the thing on.
The brick hold down method sounds pretty good, though. My dash looks like Iraq: Tigris and Euphrates rivers, lol

it was a pretty straight forward job, though I have found since that the Agate gray is probably the gray that i originally had. I may buy a couple cans and repaint it stock some day. I'll have to newspaper and tape down the whole damn inside now to paint it.
I would suggest two things:
1. Since the install, a few new cracks underneath the cover have happened and pieces have fallen down into the dash. occasionally one will slide around when you turn corners or rattle around at idle its really, really annoying. I think a coating of contact paper on the top of the old dash would do well to hold those pieces in place and reinforce the old dash a bit. I would still patch the old dash with silicone caulk.
2. Buy more adhesive! 3M makes a great emblem and plastic adhesive. I used it on the A-pillar pod I just installed and it holds great. I didn't have to use any pins or panel studs to hold the gauge pods in. It looks fantastic!
