Diesels are more expensive to maintain, but provided you do maintain them they last forever.

However when things do break they're more expensive to repair/replace.

For sure. Not having a car payment beats the hell out of everything else.

yeah,.......... well i only get about 10 miles to the gallon, so instead of spending all that money on gas, put it on a truck payment.

It all depends on what you do w/ your truck.

The CTD is a great motor if you tow. If you use your truck for heavy work then the CTD will last you longer w/ less heart burn than a gasser.

If it's a daily driver that sees city streets most of the time then the decision is harder.

NOW as for the 'diesels cost more to maintain' my math sucks but I like not having to do an ail change but every 7500+ miles. There are a lot of guys I know running over 10K between changes (and before you jump all over me they are doing oil analysis and making sure the oil is still standing up well). Yes diesel cost more at the most pumps right now. But my MPG makes up for the 15 cents or so I loose.

The new 6.7's have had a few growing pains. There is no question about that. The EPA system on it has made it's birth a little painful for some. But MOST people are not having any problems. NOW if you can get your hands on a 5.9 in decent shape oh yeah go for it!!!

If the mileage is the big holding point for you...especially if your in a 1500 now...I'd say wait until the smaller CTD comes out in the 1500 in 09/10. You'll see much better mileage in that than the current 2500/3500's and then you can even pocket them payments for some time & be able to drop a huge freaking down payment and not have a painful payment (who-hoo double bonus )

Ok I'll step off my soap-box now...everyone have a wonderful day
