hey guys im new to the forums. I own a dodge ram 1500. 3' body lift fixing to put 34' super swamper bogger tsl's on it. I have a problem with my OD solenoid sensors. If you guys have any input it would great be appreciated.

 

i would check the O/D switch on the dash and if its alright drop the tranny pan and replace the solenoid it only costs like 40 bucks

 

What is the problem? Is it locking out of OD? If so there is a little spring in the solenoid that goes bad. You can get a rebuild kit for the solenoid real cheap.

 

well the guy at the tranny shop ran a diagnostic on it and it came up ads the solenoid sensors. But it piops out of OD when you drive for lomng distances and doesnt seem to shift from 2nd to 3rd

 

welcome to the forum. this generation of truck is famous for its weak and easily screwed-up auto tranny. Luckily, parts on the valve body are not too difficult to fix. since the auto tech narrowed down the prob to a solenoid, I would fix it. Even if it is not the only thing wrong, its at least something you know needs fixin.

if you have some time do a search on this subforum using key words "transmission fix" You'll get a bunch of hits.

My tranny is not shifting very well at all, but no error codes. so it is not electronic/ computer problems... it is hydraulic (valve body) problems. I ordered a shift kit and we'll see how far that gets me.

Anyway good luck. If you have a shop do it, make sure they're reputable, one that you can trust.

thanks.. I am going to orde the pieces after christmas and install them ASAP 80 buvks for the sensors...Ill keep yall posted and put sopme pics of the ram up.
