The automatic transmission in my 2001 Dodge dually does not immediately transfer power to the wheels when it is cold. I have to really give it some gas before it will take off. It is sluggish for maybe 20 feet and then it works fine. As long as it has been driven within a few hours it does not have this problem at start-up. If it has been sitting all night then it has this issue. Any ideas about what kind of demon has possessed my transmission?

Gas or Cummins?

 

when the trans is in park the torque convertor is not being pumped with trans fluid try putting it in nuetral before takeing off in it and see if this helps. or let it warm up in nuetral with e brake on that way everything is pressurized and warmed up

 

rockwood has a point, its probably because your tranny fluid is still really cold

 

there is a tsb you have to tell the dealer about regarding lazy or delayed engagement on cold start up.It consists of replacing a return filter in the trans. I had this really bad in my 05 daytona ram and it was like night n day. Hope this helps but being an 01 you'll propably have to pay for it. I got mine under warr
