Default 4-wheel drive not working right

I am having a problem with my 4-wheel drive not working. It is hard to engage and then when it does get into 4 wheel high it slips and grinds when I drive on a slippery surface. It sounds like it is slipping in and out of 4 wheel drive. If I go slow and don't put a load on it the grinding noise doesn't happen. But as soon as I try to get traction through some snow and give it gas it will grind and slip.

I have had some issues with my transfer case before. Could it be the transfer case finally crapped out?

Any info would be nice.

I added some today. Also I put some in about a month ago because it leaks a little bit. After I noticed it leaking I would always check it to make sure it didn't get dry.

Check the little stuff first, like the Vacuum lines. I had the same problem with mine and it was loose vacuum line connections.
