To Start off I would like to say that im new to the forums, I dont know much about Trucks, but I LOVE working on my Dodge and have money to spend. I have been reading over the forums these past couple of weeks and I think this site is AWSOME! You guys know your stuff.
Ok, I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500.
1. My first problem is that untilshe warms up she doesnt want to shift to 3rd gear. I was given advice that it could be some sort of transmission sensor?
2. Secondly, When my truck gets into high RPM's the A/C changes from what i have it set on.. to the window Defogger. I was given advice on this also, that it had something to do with some sort of vacuum leak on the firewall?
I Appreciate Any Info

Record Breaker
1. Mine did that and I had the tranny flushed, filter replaced, and bands adjusted. It had 70,000 miles on it at that time. How many on yours?
2. Vacuum leak. Many times it is under the battery, line going to cruise control. [sm=americanasmiley.gif]

Record Breaker
Yes, 105,000 miles now. You might want to ask tractransman about it with that many miles on it though.[sm=americanasmiley.gif]

defroster problem - replace the check valve on the vac line on passenger side, between intake and firewall. its a small black disk, about the size of a thick quarter. make sure you install the new one in the proper direction.

I did that and of course it didn't fix the problem. Are there any other vacuum lines that could contribute to the problem?ORIGINAL: dhvaughan
