1-ton half-ton
So. Its late and I'm bored. Anybody know if it's possible/how hard it would be to throw a dual rear 1-ton axle under my half ton
I'm pretty handy with a wrench, and I wouldn't put the fenders on it either. Just a thought.

I am pretty sure the frames are different, completely. It most likely would not bolt up, then if you tried using it like a 1 ton truck the rest of the truck would not like it.
Jr.- I seriously would probably do it just for looks, until I got the rest of the stuff I want done (manual trans, carb'd 390 stroker etc)
dan- I'd use all the 1 ton rear stuff... just an idea.
Thanks for the input guys.

For sure. It was just something that crossed my mine, as soon as I'm done with this smoke, and this songs over, I'm goin to bed, gotta get up in 5 hours, so that's just enough time. Thanks for the reply.
Anything is possible, I dont think the rest of the half ton powertrain would like it though, magnum motors have a rough enough time spinning a 9.25

LOL,what're you talking about? They put the same 5.9s in full tons that they put in half tons. And the motor won't have any problem with the axel at all. The rest of his truck might fall apart if he tries to haul something dumb with it, but if it's just for show it'll be fine, although Im sure it will up your towing capacity a little bit anyway.
A dana 80 is almost a direct bolt up from everything I've read. I think the perches are 3" wide instead of 2.5 and that's about it.

yes it almost bolts right in. the spring perches are half inch bigger. i believe u can notch them for the u bolts and it will be fine. only other problem i see being is ur going to need to do something with the driveshaft. i believe the dana 80 is longer so ur shaft will be too long. plus the u joint wont work either unless u get a conversion joint
