Default FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR QUESTION

I recently bought a Chilton's book for my 98 Ram 1500 and as I was thumbing throught the pages it shows how to replace the fuel pressure regulator that sits on top of the tank. Everyone I talked to said you had to replace the entire fuel pump assembly whenever the regulator is acting up. Can I JUST replace the REGULATOR and not the entire assembly? If so can someone send me a link to either Jegs, Summit, etc that has the correct prt # and price? Thanks!

You can replace the regulator on the pump but it is a dealer only part AFAIK.
P.S. The regulator is also your fuel filter and is pretty expensive.

The pressure regulator is NOT a dealer only item. It should cost no more than $20 or so. I would recommend replacing it every 50K miles, based on my experience and some information a friend gave me. He works for the company, in Iowa, that makes the regulators (in Iowa).

Who sells them separately? I have never been able to source an aftermarket regulator for any jeep or dodge truck with this style of fuel system.
Help a brotha out!

Someone on this site sent me the part no from I think Summit Racing and it wasn't that expensive. I forgot what Co. made it but Oreilly's could order it as well.

I also work at Mahle, the company in Iowa that makes the regulator, and we do not make after market regulators we make them for the company and the dealers. Thats not to say you cant get an aftermarket one but we dont supply them. And according to our engineers the regulator/filter should last for 150k miles. My '94 dodge has been acting up so I grabbed a regulator from work and am planning to install this weekend, it has 160k miles.
