Default another steering box adjustment question

ok, i know there have been a few other posts, but here's my deal...

before i buy a new agr gear box...

i have slop where my linkage from the steering wheel connects to the gear box. is there any other adjustments i can do to fix this? the adjustment screw tightens my steering, but i still have the slop at the steering wheel. i am puzzled.

The U joint in your steering shaft is probably coooked. Get a new shaft that goes between the steering box and the steering wheel

if the slop is in the box, then you see/feel play in the lowest part of the column.
if the box is tight (and the lower shaft), and the wheel wiggles, then the play is in the middle or upper part of the shaft, probably in the u-joint or overlap joint.

here are some possible solutions...
