Doing Tune Up, Anything To Add?
Changing Oil, new oil filter, possibly O2 Censer [Can anyone suggest a brand, and whats a reasonable price?]. Replacing Plugs / Wires / Distributer Cap / Roter. Clean Throttle Body / IAC. New brakes[badly needed], Tire rotation, check fuel pressure.
I drove my dads Jeep for a year and a half while living at home, he always did tune ups, I wasnt even around when he did them of the time. Ive had my truck for 5 - 6 months now, and I want to upgrade/clean everything, so any tips on what to not to do, or go over would be great! [Im not a brainiac like I would like to be, as many people are here when it comes to cars, but I know what im doing for most part, and my dad will be there to help me out make sure I dont do anything stupid]
Also, anything else you would suggest changing/cleaning while im at it?
Im not 100% sure as to when anything was last checked/changed[Minus the oil] so im doing it all. I know 5 - 6 months is awhile to prolong this, but had to save up[Starving student!!] and now im finally able to do it.

i just did a tune up i my 96. it sat for bout a year or so and im starting to fix it up finnally. i did the same stuff u just said u wanted to do. i also went ahead and drained my radiator fluid and all. i had almost all water and no antifreeze in it. so that might be something u check if u want.
The NTK oxygen sensors made by NGK are probably the best out there but my local shops don't carry them. You can order them from Summitracing.com or check rockauto.com to see if they carry them. Those will be better priced.
Get some plug wires that are 8mm or bigger, is sounds crazy but the truck will idle better. MSD makes a good set. Cap, anything with brass contacts, or the mopar performance cap and rotor. Plugs, Irun autolite 3923's just the regular copper ones. Don't bother with anything more expensive, not worth it IMHO.
Oil Filter, Wix or NAPA Gold #1085 (made by Wix). Oil, honestly any synthetic is good and will offer you better protection than Dino oil if you run a little long on the change.
It may sound like overkill, but you might just want to change out all the fluids in your truck so at least you'll have a set reference point of when all routine maintenance was done. You should also check tranny fluid, smell it and see if is smells burnt. Drain the pan and refill thru dipstick tube if it is, buy a new filter and use ATF+4 only). Radiator could used flushed if that hasn't been done in a while. You can flush the power steering pump, I did and got a lot of metal sludgey stuff out. Rear Differential fluid, Transfer Case fluid if its 4x4 (use the search function here for these and check out all the DIY stickies at the top of the forum). ANd last but not least go to the dealership and pick up a can or 2 of Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner and run that thru the engine and smoke out the neighborhood.

Meh, I'd go with the Seafoam cleaner myself. You suck it in through the brake booster hose and let it run through the engine. IMO, I'd do that somewhere near a freeway onramp or someplace where you can get the truck up to speed so you can really clean out the internals while it's running through. I did that and the truck seems to run squeaky clean - except for that infernal plenum gasket, which is on my list [:@]
Thanks a lot guys for your input, im going to look into the seaform. Definately going to pick up some combustion chamber, ment to but forgot to add it to my list at the time, thanks for reminder. And as to the wire plugs, i'd want to try ur idea with the 8mm, but I alreadybought some from Bosch... and it doesnt tell me what size! I ordered them, so I cant return it, guess they'll have to do.
I've heard some rumorage that seafoam can really foul stuff up?? Any input there?

It's fine for the truck though.

That's true, don't drink it.

Read the label.I don't know it it removes carbon as well as the Mopar cleaner but I'm sure it won't hurt anything.
I know some techs (and farmers) that swear by it.
iv been running it for years. never had any problems or any thing. i still run it. ran a can of it and some 89 octane gas. little over half a tank let that run and ya done. i usually run it every oil change and all.
