Dont be stupid.
I Know mudding isnt stupid, but just going through water IMO is kinda easy... not very impressive.
I went through this exact spot the day before.
I go mudding quite a bit, and im slowly working my truck up to be better at it... as my truck sits its probably not to smart to go mudding with.. but I dont care.

I used to go off-roading with this fella, his jeep sucked in a lot of water in a small stream. I towed it out and we let it sit for a while, then hecranked it over and it started, but it wound upblowing a golfball sized hole out the side of the block.
bye-bye motor.
I towed him back to the road side to get towed. he still drives it, but with another 4.0L. I am sure after that he will know to go in a lot slower. oopsie.
I had a F-150 at the time.

Yeah, as long as you keep it hammered down. You let off you're done.

Jeebus you are full of faulty information dude. You can idle through deep water. As lomg as your engine is running you are good to go. NO need to "keep it hammered"

What I need to find is a beater Ram 50, and put some 33's on that and have fun.
i got a decent amount of coin that says he bent or broke a rod. Probably made the problem worse by trying to start it without pulling the plugs and trying to clear the cylinders first. Water does not compress. When I live back east I used to go mudding in my Jeep all the time. there was one pit in particular that at a certain spot was deeper than my hood (was on 33s at the time) granted I had made myself a snorkel but I never had any problems getting my YJ thru it, well, except for the fact that I was running All Terrains at the time so I did get stuck on a few occassions and had to be strapped out.
Mudding and water crossings can indeed be alot of fun, but you MUST take the necessary precautions if you are going to do it. I sealed all my electronics, used di-electric grease on every electrical connection, sealed the dist cap, put in an electric fan (a mechanical one can bend in deep water and take out your radiator) built a snorkel that moved my air intake up above my head where i sit in the drivers seat, and i extended all of my breather hoses as high as i could possibly get them. Another very important thing with this kind of wheeling is to check your fluids regularly, especially your diffs. if they get water in them you can do alot of exspensive damage in a hurry!
