Regular ATF is fine ATF+ is even better, got +4 in mine.
Which reminds me It's probably time for a full drive line fluid change...

I would suggest AFT+4. That way if you ever blow the sel between the T case and the tranny, you don't contaminate the tranny with less than spec ATF.

Saw a guy on Jeep forum get a drain plug and drill a hole-in two stages- then cut threads in it. Then he got a drain oil drain plug and put that in. Now all he has to do is remove the bolt to drain his fluid.

It only takes 1 quart?

Thats sweet.
My truck has 92,000 miles and its never been done, I gotta get to it but I never get around to it. I have a feeling mine is horrible.

What type of fluid did you use? just atf4?
No, it actually takes about 1.5 qts...mine only had about 1 in it though. If it is at 92K, you may want to check it... The factory spec calls for ATF+4... They have it at Wally World in their brand and in Mopar brand...

Why would you do that if it already has a drain plug? Did his not have one? Sounds like a lot of work!

Jeep CRD. Did not have a drain plug on his differential. He put the plug on the bottom of the housing, not the cover. Now he never has to remove the cover to drian the fluid.

looks like something else i'll have to change. got 115k and im sure its the stock oil. Bout the last of things that need to be changed i think. I've got Tranny/Filter(several times, plus a brand new trans [&:]), Oil, Radiator Flush, Power Steering(pretty sure i got the leaky 01 dodge thing), Plug came out of my rear end and lost all of the oil so i filled her back up and put a new plug in(who came up with the design of the rubber plug and not a screw in type anyways), anything else i should be looking for besides this ?
