I had the shudder problem with my 46RE tranny. The T/C was bad and I replaced it. While I was at it, I replaced the filter and adjusted the bands. The tranny shifts great. I still get a little shudder once in a while. (twice in 3 days and not near as bad as before)

Could the rest of the problem be the valve body or is there something else?

hi, did u use ATF+4 fluid?

 

Yup, ATF +4

It might be a bad torque converter clutch solenoid (TCC)
or debris in the hydraulic passageways of that TCC circuit
