Battery dies in a day or 2
I have a 99 ram 1500. About 2 weeks ago after not driving it for a few days the battery was dead. I bought the truck a few months back and had no idea how old the battery was so I replaced it. SInce then the new battery has died after 2-3 days of not driving the truck. I took the ositive cable off the battery and used an analog amp meter. I saw less than 1/2 amp draw with everything off. I attribute this to the clock/computer but certainly not enough to kill a batter in a couple days. ANy ideas?

1/2 an amp is a big draw that = 500 milliamps
ignition off draw (IOD) should be less than 90 milliamps.
You got a problem. any recent aftermarket accessories installed.
It isn't something silly like the dome or map light staying on, is it? Glove box light can be an easy one to miss.
if not hook up your meter like you had, make sure ignition is off an Waite 15 mins and recheck the draw. If it still high remove the dome lights and map light and pull out the fuses one by one and check the draw. when the draw goes away at least you know what circuit it draw is on

yep. you have a draining short.
its not going to be fun to trouble shoot...
you may learn more about the truck than you would like
good luck!
the easy option is to either..disconnect the battery every night, or install a battery kill switch to manually disconnect remotely from the cab ...

try unplugging your seats. the same thing happened to me after a day my battery died. after 2 weeks i finally took it to mechanic they found the seat belt relay was draining the battery on the driver side. i unplugged it and had no problems since. good luck to
I did try removing the fuses one by one. I did not however wait 15 mins after shutting the truck off to do it. I have no aftermatket accessories installed and have checked that no lights are being left on. Something suddenly started to draw. I'm going to unplug the seats and see what happens. Thanks
