The trans has never been rebuilt. The truck has 80k on it. Another thing I forgot to mention is that it has a really strange shift going into lock up(overdrive). Maybe I should just change the converter!?

Mine had the same symptoms at 80K, and shortly thereafter, the torque converter went bad, beyond slipping, like freewheeling with a lot of noise from the converter area.
