Don't go with aluminum if you are putting it on in case a deer or something to that effect hits you. I have a steelheaty duty guard that i put on my truck sunday and today my truck slid from a stock on black ice and took out the right corner beside on a friends 2nd gen dodge. all it did was scratched the paint. if it was aluminum, it would have bent back into the fender. I have worked for years with aluminum and steel, and for what and do and what you want, you want a steel made guard.

id half to disagree, aluminum ones can be just as strong as steel if built right, i build/install both, and when the weight factor is taken into consideration aluminum comes out ahead. besides you can make the bumper as strong as you want but if you hit something and your bumper doesnt give at all the next thing to bend/twist is your frame, not to mention all the force that is going to be exerted on the occupants, (by putting on a stronger bumper you are making the factory crumple zones useless)
