Delay Wiper stall on a '99 1500
Probably already covered somewhere but could anyone offer a quick fix to a wiper problem. Wipers work fine on run and hi but stop halfway through stroke on any delay settings. the time before the wiper starts moving again coincides with the delay setting but the stroke is usually 1/4 to 1/2 and usually stops right in the driver's line of sight. Any ideas?
when you run them on low or high speed and turn them off in midstream, do they stop in the middle of the windshield (like they do on delay) or do they "park" themselves at the bottom ?
the parking process is controlled by the park circuit, which is some piece of electrical magic inside the motor that forces the wiper motor to only stop at a certain spot.
the intermittent wiper control module should just send a 12 volt pulse out on the low speed wire, which triggers the cycle. the park circuit is responsible for completing the rotation back around to the park position. the timing/frequency of the pulse is controlled by your little **** on the multifunction switch, something like once every 1-10 seconds.
i'm guessing that your wipers don't park correctly on any setting, and it generally requires you to either get real good at turning them off at the right time, or you have to replace the wiper motor.

I was afraid it would be the motor. So far I've gotten very good at turning them off. Thanks for the time. Any idea of what's involved in swapping motors?
remove wiper arms by pushing out slightly on the tab at the base and lifting the arm off. be careful the little tab only moves about 1/16" to release the catch around the shaft. then the you have to tilt the wiper arm completely up while pushing the tab. if you do it all right they come off easy as pie. if they don't come off - you're not doing it right. don't break the tab at the base.
remove plastic cowl. what looks like hex screws are actually plastic push plugs. you have to sort of turn them and pry up and they come off.
there's the motor and the arm thing. a few screws and an electrical plug.
