I'd ride it out and put a new one in when you can afford it. The trannys in these trucks are the weak link, so the sooner you get rid of it the better. Before you start throwing a few hundrew at it here and a few hundred at it there.
Thats kind of my theory after dumping all that money into mine and still needing a new one.

Before you decide to ride it out until it graps out why don't you do some small things to see if you can clear it up. Try adjusting the bands maybe they are just loose. Try adjusting the TV cable. Don't jump to the worst conclusions first.

im riding mine out... until the 5.9 and tranny get here.. have been riding it out for 40,000 miles =) hehe.. you learn its cycles and adjust. Problem with mine is, she doesnt want to shift cold, shifts hard, and slips clutch's every now and then.. but i know that a rebuild wouldnt be worth it.. just gonna buy me a tranny case, and cut the gears out of diamond =)

Be sure to let us know what they find since you were supposed to take it in today.

Well you burning the tires isnt helping with the problem anyways, you have 4.10 gears with 35's, which is undergeared.... drive the truck properly and it will last you longer. You treat the truck good, it will treat you good back.

2nd that. I'm sure you already have, but since it hasn't been said... Have you checked your Transmission fluid? If it's brown black, or smells burned (which constant burnouts will cause) that could be your problem right there. But from what you've said it sounds like your problems are going to cost you more than a fluid change.

I am having issues also, the O/D off light comes on, and kicks out of OD (of course) and then last night i got a trans temp light.
This is only when driving on the highway. This never happens on my daily commute to work which is all backroads and only 10 miles.

I am hoping to take it in to a transmission shop for them to see what it is. There are tons of things that can cause this. ugh.
If its more than $500 [:@]its going in the paper. tired of this truck.

From reading on here... the OD lite could be the OD engage/disengage valve, cheap and easy to replace if remmeber correctly.
