4Hi Squeak
I have been driving around town in 4hi and a squeak has developed. I thought it was the belts and the cold (~5F), but then I put it in 2hi and the squeak stopped. Sure enough, back in 4hi it squeaks again. The squeak is proportional to vehicle speed while in 4wd, not engine rpm. It is silent while still. Both forward and reverse squeak. I didn't get a chance to check 4lo.
Any guesses?
I dropped the truck off tonight. My money is on one or both of the universals in the front driveshaft as they are original with 160K miles. I hope it's not the Xfer case...

I actually had this same problem a little while ago when it was wet out then got real cold. I got all worried about it and gave my mechanic a call. Funny thing was I couldn't replicate the same sound the next day. Mechanic told me that ice can build up in that boot on the front driveshaft and cause a squeel. Hopefully thats exactly what happened to you.
Yeah, if it was the t-case, I don't suspect you would be hearing as much of a squeak as you would throwing a rock into a blender...but I could be wrong. It happened once...

Mascot - UGA
Speculation is that our mascot, the White English Bulldog, came from Yale, with whom UGA had strong ties to in its early years. Our first president, Abraham Baldwin was a Yale man. On November 3, 1920 Morgan Blake of the Atlanta Journal wrote about the school nickname and said, "The Georgia Bulldog would sound good because there is a certain dignity about a bulldog, as well as ferocity." On November 6, 1920 after a UGA football game, Cliff Wheatley used the name "Bulldogs" five times in his story and the name has been used ever since.

"Uga V had a classic, old-school, college-sports look," says Sports Illustrated senior editor Craig Neff, explaining why SI put the Georgia mascot on the cover of its 1997 college sports issue. "He brought a smile to the face of every SI editor who saw the photo."
