Default Heater problem

Heater problem
1998 Dodge Ram 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 67000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Just purchased truck. Water pump replaced, hoses checked, radiator flushed, new thermostat. Truck does not over heat. Heater core flushed, is not leaking and tested clear. Heater still is not heating well. Blows somewhat warm on low, then blows COLD when turned up. Blend doorok. I also have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 doing the exact same thing. I have read through some of the threads, have not seen anything quite like my situation. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.[/align]

sounds like a clogged up heater core to me. feel both lines going into the core if they are not the same temp then u have a restriction in the core.

Thanks for your response. The Dodge Dealership in Arkansas tested the heater core yesterday, flushed it, and said it was fine, no obstructions. My first thought was the heater core, too. Still not convinced that it is not....

I'm going to bet even money your heater core has pinholes in it. I went through everything you did (even no smell of coolant) and when I pulled it *BINGO*.

Well, the truck has a 90 day bumper to bumper, so I suspect that is why they said it was fine..... Since I have 2 Dodge Rams with the same exact problem, I think I will just replace them both. Thanks for the advice!

sorry been working alot. to burp the system you needtwo people to doit. first you un do the hose clamp on the heater core by the firewall it will be the one on the furthest to the right side then pull the hose off and have the othe person start the pick up. you want to watch out it will spray once the air is out and then put the hose back on .it is messy but thats what i did and my heater works now. all yea you want to make sure the pickup is cold also for skin reasons

Um -- NO. Burp the system by parking the nose of the truck at an incline and remove the radiator cap. Start the vehicle and let it come to operating temperature at idle. Work at getting the air to come out via the radiator cap opening,.

Damn, how ghetto can you be?
