downshifting

Default downshifting

i have a 01 4x4 sport with a little for 80k on it, with 35in tires.. when i go to get on the expressway or going mroe then 55mph or so period and i put the gas all the way to the floor.. it doesnt down shift tp gain any speed...so i gotta kick the O/D off and put the pedal down.. any help on this? anything i should look at? dont really think my tranny is takin a crap yet..

your TV (throttle valve)cable may be out of adjustment.

The locking piece on mine is actually a push-in type square shaped piece instead of the removable white cap. Mine seems to be easier to deal with since I just have to push it in instead of removing the white piece, but either way it is a very easy thing to do. It makes a world of difference!

Be very careful when doing this, as it is easy to go too far with the adjustment. This is a very good write-up on how to do it though.
