Default Quick ?

Okay, since I bought my Ram back in Aug I have been ***** deep in this whole plenum deal...yadi, yada, yada... My PCM has been re-flashed, truck has no nutz, etc...

But one thing I've wondered the whole time is...WTF does this "pinging" even sound like[sm=smiley25.gif] I don't think I've ever actually heard it...

Its a ping noise, its very hard to explain, its a rattling noise from the valves.

usually under load, like going uphill, pinging is a rattling or clattering sound like somebody threw marbles into your engine.

Okay, that explains why I didn't know...if I heard something like that I would crap my pants and think my valves were shot. And this is a bad noise, right?

JK Thanks guys...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knocking
during spark knock/pinging the gas is exploding under heat and pressure before the spark plug even fires. this causes it to be sort of out of time/out of sync and its working against itself, rather than working efficiently. power is low. it can't be good for the engine.
