96 is dual in single out... dont understand why different years dont have an uniform set up... you would think the dual in would be better performance wise...
doesnt matter who or what make the cat is it can catch fire , example : oil drip or park in high grass and see what happens.. for me it would be park in the field... and yes it happen last summer while bailing hey ( father inlaw was not happy)

First Call was to Munro $900+ to replace w/factory unit.
Second call was to Midas $300 to gut the original and use a universal.
... will update by "edit" as I make my calls.

I wonder what kind of cat the first shop owner who wouldn't use MagnaFlow is pushing? Shops often make more on the parts than they do on labor, and bringing your own or asking for something on which they don't get at least a jobber discount will turn them sour. Find someplace willing to install the one you buy, or do it yourself. Aside from fighting rusty bolts, it's not a terrible job.

So maybe that an option in both '00 and '01. Maybe others too? 98DodgeRam1500, you should go look at your cat to make sure before you buy.

I joined another dodge forum to get more feedback. not that I don't trust the great advice from everyone, but when I googled it there was a person there who had an issue after 1yr, and another who's caught fire. so I had to join to read on about it.
