Default Need advice buying a truck

I'm looking at 2 trucks. Both are '99 black Ram 1500s. My question is why is one of them higher than the other. The guy with the higher truck says hes not added a lift kit to it, so I have no clue.

Here are the trucks.
1st one thats highest: (click pic to get better view)

The one that sits higher is fourwheel drive
the lower one is rear wheel drive.

First truck is 4WD, the 2nd truck is 2WD. They are both stock height.

The second one looks a little cleaner, but I would rather have the 4WD myself. Plus, the 4WD is lower mileage and cheaper. I would just give it a thorough inspection, especially the t-case and tranny. Ask if you can take it to your own mechanic to have it looked at in depth. I say go with the first one.

also, the first one is from a private seller. 2nd one is at a stealership.
not sure where you live, but here in GA. i'd have to pay sales tax when buying from dealer or business. no sales tax from private seller (non business) 7% x 6500 is a significant amount.

Speaking as somebody who's owned both, if you're gonna buy a truck, buy a 4x4. Unless you don't plan on playing with it at all, you don't tow, and the weather is sunny all year round. You won't catch me with another 2 wheel drive truck though, I'm spoiled now
