ASAP
Welcome to DF!
I suspect you might have more wire damage that has not been repaired. What fuse location had too large of fuse installed? It might help me to run down where additional unseen damage might be.
Did you try installing the IOD fuse when the other fuses were out? If the fuse blows while all other downstream fuses are pulled (lights, hazards, etc) - you likely have a short that you have not run down yet on the IOD line. Did any other fuses blow?
The fused side of the IOD lineleaves the PDC as a 10 GA red wire with a black stripe. It will eventually end up at the junction block on Junction Block C2 (pin 1).
With the IOD fuse removed and the battery disconnected, I woulddisconnect the C2 connector at the junction block (if possible). Then take an ohm meter and measure the resistance between the red/black 10 GA wire and ground. If it is small... you have a short on that feed line.
Post up what the overrated fuse location was and I might be able to help you figure it out.
If you do some searching in one of the sticky threads, you should find a merry christmas thread that has a link to the factory service manual. It has the schematics for the truck in it which would be very helpful for you in this situation.
Good luck,
Cartman
