first time tow, how to prep?
hey guys, this will be my first time towing a trailer with the ram. im just wondering what i should do to prep it, its got a ton miles on it as u can see in my sig. i know i will get a tranny cooler, any suggestions on that?. i just did a really good rad flush and it has a new rad it in. i cant think of stuff i need to prep in order to tow. any suggestions would be awsome. thanks guys!
Tranny cooler. Turn overdrive off when towing. Thats all I can really thing of off the top of my head. I've heard a few people say that they put premium in when they tow with it.

+1 on the brakes, if you cant stop, no sense in tryin to tow
Also check all the fluids, and top off as needed

oh sorry, im towing a mustang to the track. ok thats all i could think of was the cooler. even on the higway leave od off? the rpms get pretty high round 130-160 ( kms/h) i just did front brakes, i need to bleed them tho they seem a lil spongey.
I'd get a brake controller as most likely a trailer that big will have brakes on it. I'd for sure leave OD off even on the highway with something as heavy as a car and a trailer big enough to hold it.
What kind of hitch/trailer setup you got? If you've got an anti-sway bar and load equalizers you'll be much happier. First time I towed, my Dad made me run a 24' travel trailer down the highway with and without those just so I'd be grateful. I was

8t5 i tow my camaro to the track with my 1500 i always shut od off and i also add a second tranny cooler for add saftey always do a pretrip inspect make sure all your tires are up to pressure fluids and any thing else you can think of at the time like before i go i make sure everthing is lubed and full i may even drop 5 to 10 lbs of air out of the tires for more traction mileage goes done but you cant be the traction you get from it
