Default Q. about my Mopar Performance Air Cleaner

I want to get a K&N Filter for my Mopar Performance round air cleaner setup. What filter does it take? I think i remember seeing it takes the 14"x3" filter but I just want to make sure before i spend 50 bucks.

Thanks Guys

I think 14x3 is the best fit...search the FIPK thread to see for sure.

The Mopar round filter is not 14" diameter. It is 12.75" The only K&N filters that will fit it are part# 1530 and 1535. They are 12.50". That's as close as you can get. They are not a perfect fit, but they will work. I prefer the paper filter from Purolator that is a perfect fit. I ran a K&N in mine, and didn't notice any difference over the paper. Since paper filters better, I use it instead.

How do these round air cleaners compare to the CAIs?
Also, are there any complications for street use? I saw them at the Mopar site and they were listed for "off road" use only.

They are listed that way becasue in some states, you will fail an inspection with it. I passed two emissions tests here with mine, and even had the one guy giving me the test comment on how he should get one for his girlfriends truck. One issue is that it doesn't have a way to redirect valve cover bypass gases back into the intake. That is what the small tube on the stock air assembly does. You could easily fashion up something that would do this, but they still might not pass you (depends on how stringent your state inspection stuff is). Another option is to just keep your stock air assembly for when you need to get your annual inspection. Or, don't run this type of setup at all if that is an issue for you.

Do a search for "K&N FIPK No More", it will give you more info then you would ever wanted to know on the topic of these roud filters. There is also a good DIY at the top of the 2nd Gen forum.
