Default PTO???

hi all.. i noticed on my 01 ram 1500 that on the upper wiring harness on the firewall.. there is an orange wire sticking out.. not hooked up to anything.. and its labled 'pto' .. is this for an electric pto control? or something to hook a pto control up to so theengine idle will increase when i have a pto engaged? anyone know? thanks in advance

huh, i'm not sure, but maybe a pto was available on the heavier trucks and they just use the same wiring harness, or maybe "pto" stands for something else

Yes that wire is for PTO control. I beleive that all of the trucks have it. I don't think that it does a whole lot but try searching it on the forum. For awhile there was an argument to modding the truck by putting 12 volts onto that wire with a switch and using it to disable the toruge managment system. It's still up in the air as to wheter or not it actually removes TM. I think everyone finally agreed that it dosen't diasable it.
