Default 2001 tranny problems

Had a usedtranny put in last summer by a shop after mine decided it would eat itself and am having a problem now. Wife was driving it while I was out of town working after picking up the granddaughters so she wasn't mudding in it!
It will shift from 1-2 ok but seems weak, 2-3 I usually have to slip it in nuetral then back into drive to get it to shift up. Once I do that ritual it is ok until I stop then all over again.
Ive seen post from others who have had this type of problem scattered through here and hate to ask the same questions but, I'm trying to get the answers in one area. I know It's lazy of me.
Should I prep myself to pulling it out and sending it to a rebuild shop or is there something that will cause it to do this that I may be able to correct myself? Or perhaps something that can be checked first?
Thanks,
Greg

If your plans are to keep the truck for a while I wouldnt reccomend rebiulding the chrysler tranny. Some of the other guys on here have mentioned really good transmissions that are after market. i will try and dig up some names. Try to have it looked at maybe a filter is clogged (wishful thinking) but worth a try.

If you get the stock transmisson rebuilt by a reputable shop, they are great transmissons and will last the life of your truck.
