Biggest tires W/2 inch lift
Ive had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do about tires and the next thing I want to do with my 96 1500 4x4...I am now thinking about a 2 inch lift..I think Im gonna go the cheap way and put 2 inchblocks under the rear and2 inchcoil spring liftin the front. Should be pretty simple to install right? And I need to know whats the biggest tire I can run under it..Thanks
I would say don't worry about the rear personally, and for the front just buy some coil spacers, and a new set of shocks ($150 or so total). My cousin has that set up on his 01 offroad, and he has 35x12.50 with very minimal rubbing, if you do not have an offroad truck I would say 33x12.50 or a skinny 35x10.50. the skinnies you could probably keep the stock wheels. Most people are going to think I am crazy but I have 36x10.50 with only a 3 inch lift, and I have plenty of articulation, I don't even run a sway bar.
If you want to lift your truck two inches just buy a 2 inch body lift. They only run about $250
and if you ever decide to put a real lift on your truck the body lift won't interfere. It would suck to put a 3" suspension lift on and have to buy a new trac bar and drop pitman arm because you have stupid 2" spacers in the way.
If you're just trying to fit 33s, they fit stock. A leveling kit willhelpeliminate rubbing on the control arm. The back has plenty of clearance.

yeh Im just trying to add a little height to it...I dont think I'd go higher than 2 inches just because by the time I saved up for a bigger lift and bigger tires i'd probably be looking for a newer 1500...
if you get the coil spacer you dont need new shocks and its an easy bolt on installation. i didn't like the way it looked (frontcompared toback) when i got done with my spacer so i put blocks in the back. but thats all your preference. do the front first and if you like the look dont mess with the rear. 33x12.50 will look great with that setup i think
yea the spacers were 2" and then i added 2" blocks. the blocks were very easy except for the fact the bolts were a lil rusty. .

Assuming you're going to be going offroad (I just figured that since your name is backwoods4x4) I'd really consider getting longer springs and shocks. Blocks aren't going to offer you any extra axel articualtion offroad.
very true, On my truck I found that 2 inch blocks, allowed me the articulation i needed because I have no sway bar front or back, The stiff rear springs just stay the same and the whole truck moves around the front end, the front end moves around plenty for me. What type of offroading do you do, Rocks I would suggest new springs, but sand or mud I would say spacers would be find. With out new shocks, articulation is greatly constricted. Go with how much money you have.
