Default Temporary Intake? Or stupid?

What do you guys think? I'm awfully eager to put some kind of aftermarket intake on the truck. I can't stand having all of that air leaving the engine, and nothing being forced in past stock standards. I was somewhat pondering buying a reliable eBay air intake for the time being until I can afford the volant intake. What's your guys thoughts? I cannot afford the volant until at least May. Also, if you do think it's a good idea, can you guys get me some links to ebay intakes that are RELIABLE or perhaps people here that have them and can give me some feedback on them? I'm looking to pay $30-50 tops including shipping on the intake, just to get me by mentally and performance wise until I can affore the volant and the fastman. Thanks ya guys.

I have one just like that. I wasn't really looking for a performance improvement, just a cool sound. And i got it. You can really hear it suckin in air while accelerating. I've had it on for over a year and haven't had any problems with it. Why don't you go with the round air filter set up? That's what i'm planning on doing this summer.

So you did not feel any h/p improvements though? Don't me wrong, I love the sound of an intake, but the truck is already stupid loud, so I'm looking for something that will actually help. Did you feel any gains, or just sound?

Go with the round Airfilter looks good and you can definitely tell the motor is breathing a little better, Whoosh, whoosh

I'd go with the Edlebrock air hat. I have that and it was around $20-25 I think. I spent $25 and got a heavy duty bracket made as the one that came with the kit you have to bend and it was so flimsy it didn't want to stay bent. After I figured out how it needed to be bent I took it to a machine shop and they made an extremely thick one I don't think I could bend if I wanted to.

My round setup seems like it helped off the line acceleration a tad (butt dyno says more pick up and go). If your looking for temporary, i'd say keep it the way you got it for now. It's so cold out right now that adding that COLD AIR intake isnt gonna make that much of a difference imho. If your set on getting one, let me see if I can look up my setup a bit later

- - Edit

Picture is of the same setup on a fellow df members truck. Its the Mr. Gasket setup. Come with 2.25" tall filter I swap with a 2.5" filter. Comes with a mount neck for the breather hose so no "oil breather" is needed. Comes with the rod too. All in all the setup cost me $7.87 to my door cuz amazon messed up on their website.

Hmm.. I don't know guys, I just...I'm just not likeing the air hat design. I don't care for the look, nor the idea that it sits on top of the engine. I don't want to come off as offensive knowing it's a popular route for many of the guys here on the forum, but I just don't think it's for me.

No, no noticeable difference in hp, just a nice LOUD whistle. But I don't need my truck to be fast.

I definitely say the round filter is the way to go. Then if you like it you don't even have to drop the $$$ on the volant intake. From what other members have said about it, it definitely seems like you'd be happy with the round filter setup.

You changed your member name. It now resembles that of a DODGE RAM owner instead of a LITTLE SKITTLE car owner. A fancy, expensive cold air intake is for little tuners. Go with the round filter.

I'm just messing about the skittle car thing of course. But you had a neon, (the base car for the srt-4) and look at the colors srt's came in...the colors of skittles. lol
