help me if you can.
Hello, I am new to this forum and I hope some one can help me out here. My 1999 ram w/ 318 is giving me issues. When I start the truck it will fire then die, but if I keep my foot in it, it will run. If I take my foot off the pedal quickly it will die. If I keep my foot in it and let the engine warm up and take my foot off easy, it will some times fall to about 500-600 rpm then come back to idle. When this problem occured last the truck would not idle at all, even if I lifted off the pedal easy and it was warm. The check engine light is not on and no codes are being thrown. I have replaced the Idle Air Control Valve in the back of the throttle body twice before and it has corrected this problem. The first time for about 4 1/2 months and the second time about 3 months. Even though this seams to fix it temporarily, I do not believe I am fixing the problem but only a symptom being caused by the problem. It's also an extra $35-$40 every time I replace it. The truck has 199,000 miles and runs like new besides this issue. Thanks

RE: help me if you can.
i recently experienced IAC problems with high rpm cold idle, and surging cold idle. i purchased 5 different IAC's before I got a good one. 2 bad autozone's, 2 bad advance auto, 1 good SMP brand. check for warranty on the one's you already bought - az has 2 year. advance has a 1 year.
i replaced one at az under warranty, and then got a refund on the second.
i replaced one at advance under warranty, and then got store credit on the second.
