Default 5' tach

i just got a used 5" tachometer for my truck from a friend.
My question was that i do not know where the green wire goes, It has four wires a red(12 volt), a black (ground), a white (light), and a green which i do not know where to place it, i have done this before but with a fox body mustang but the engine compartment is very different please can some one tell me exactly where ti goes.

Get a Haynes manual or download the 01 pdf manual from my tech area http://www.rm-indy.com/tech.htmand go threw the schematics to find the right wire. I run an msd dig6 ignition and just hooked the green wire to its tach signal output.

If you dont have an aftermarket ignition box...run the green wire through the grommit in the firewall and out through the wireing harness, down twards the fuel injectors, over twards the alternator, and down to the coil. Cut the coil wire and splice the green wire in with the green wire. (Its easier with an aftermarket tower coil that has pickups for ring connectors.)
