4WD help needed
My wife complained yesterday that her 99 1500 sport 4x4 would not go into 4wd hi....
When she got home last night I tried it.... she was 100% correct....
The 4wd lever will NOT physically go back into 4x4 Hi position....
I tried 4x4 lo.... the lever goes into that position ( even grinds a little going in) but it does not engage 4x4 ?????
Can anyone please steer me in the right direction to diagnose the problem ??
thanks in advance !

Sounds to me like you have a broken shift fork. I'm afraid you are going to have to split the case to figure that one out. If you could split the case and take some pics, I could help you a little better.
The part I don't understand is that to get to 4Lo on mine I have to go past N and 4H to get there. Maybe something is different on yours. There has been a couple of people that have had the bolts on the shifter come loose and not opperate correctly. The ones that bolt it to the case, on the outside.
Always get it fixed and then tell the wife she needs to stay away from your truck. NEVER state that she was 100% correct. Expecially in writing......[:@]
