I have searched the posts with little results. our 1999 dodge ram 1500 extended cab has a center seat console that stays up and wont go down, (no puns intended) it appears to be locked.
i dont want to tear this thing up, is there anybody that will post some information on what to do first to loosen it up and hopefully fix it? we have tried lifting up on it and with a ton of pressure and rocking around and much cussing, it will sometimes move.

Mine did that several times a few years ago. I would mess with it for a while and it would decide when it would come down. Then it stopped acting up. Have no idea why.

 

slowly very slowly pull console down...if locks up slowly rock console at point just before it locksup

 

mine does this on occasion, Grab the base of it nad gently but firmly pull up while rocking it towards the dash, you may have to jiggle it up and down, but it works eventually, i ahve to do it at elast once a week

 

Mine locks, and I just push the opener button to put it down, dont know why, but it works absolutely every time.

 

i just grab the bottom where it attaches and just jiggle it a lil and it works..

i just realized if you didnt know what i am talkin about though this would kinda be an awkward thing to say... [:-]

 

Put some ice on it.

That usually does the trick
