Hey, im new to posting on this forum, been reading all the time! Everyone here is awsome. Anyways, i am such an idiot. im coming home today, blasting Rob zombie andbacking into my drive way. I turn to my left to make sure im clear, then i realize im about to hit my mailbox, i slam on the breaks but its too late. Thank God my uncle owns a body shop.Heres the damage.

If you want to save some money, don't have them fix that tail light. The body work, of course, but not the tail light.

Buy a replacement off of eBay (you can go aftermarket or buy stock, one or in pairs) and install it yourself. Its easy, simple, and takes only a few minutes with a screwdriver. Every bodyshop I've gone to charges an arm and half a leg for replacement lights.

EDIT: Just reread your post, and I see that you said your uncle owns a bodyshop. Maybe he won't charge ya an arm and half a leg.

 

That's not too bad.
He should be able to pull out the quarter panel and you could probably get a used tail light to save a few bucks.
With the family discount it shouldn't be too expensive.

 

I have a used stock tail light if you interested.

 

I just bought a pair from ebay. I love them. I went with stock after much deliberation. I think if you seach tailights you will find my old thread. I purchased them on Saturday and they were in my hands on Thursday. Around 40 for the pair. DOT and SAE.

 

Holy crap dude! What do you have, a concrete mailbox? How fast were you backing into your driveway? That just sucks man, hope it doesn't cost you too much. As a side note; I had less damage on a '98 S10 Jimmy when I hit a 150lb deer at 55 mph.

 

Not sure I'd even fix it other than getting a new taillamp. Looks like about 4hrs repair and some paint. Might even be able to add one of those rear stripe decals to cover it up instead of painting...paint is the expensive parts.

That sucks man... i have a bad feeling that one day when my fiance is backing out of our driveway she is going to hit one of the supports for our carport..

I let my wife drive the truck all the time, although she prefers her Jeep.

 

Well, he had to make sure it was dead, so he pinned it up against the house!
