Driveline Shift
Hey Guys,
My 95 (5.2L 318, Auto)seems to have the entire driveline shift when taking off. I can be sitting at a light and if I accelerate with anything more than half throttle, I can feel the driveshaft vibrate, the transmission move, and the transfer case shift. The transfer case is especially noticeable because it moves enough to slam the transfer case **** into my dashboard. (Hard enough to leave marks!) can anyone offer help? I am mechanically inclined but I only know what i have already screwed up and fixed, this is not one of those things.

wow.
broken transmission mount maybe? trying pushing or gently jacking on the transmission to see if you have a broken/missing mount bolt. or broken mount.
be careful with hard acceleration until you get this fixed. you don't want the drive shaft to come flying out.

Is that a serious conern?
yes. especially if the t-case shift **** is banging into the dash. it should not be moving around.
Would driving full time in 4WD minimize the risk? (Doesn't seem to be as much flex in 4WD)
no. its only moving less because with the front drive shaft turning, its putting more bind/torque onto the transmission and holding it place. driving in 4wd on dry pavement is a no no, as the the front/rear binding cannot slip as easily through the tires.

Well, I guess it's not that serious if you don't mind replacing your entire drivetrain when the thing decides to give out completely.
