Questions on 1999 & 2000 1500
Hi, Im a newbie shopping for a used Ram 1500 4X4. I've read the only differences between the 99 and 2000 are some improvements to the ride and steering. Should this be a major concern or is it negligible? My second question is what differences does a "Sport" have over the regular SLT models? Is it just the bumpers and grille or is there anything else? Whats everyones opinion on the leather interiors?
Thanks a bunch.

This is a C&P from another response I offered earlier, but if'n your dead set on a Dodge Ram, I'd recommend you either get a manual transmission, or a Ram 4x4 which has a rebuilt tranny with a transferable warranty. I'm looking at nearly $2,000 in transmission repairs on a vehicle with only 50,000 miles.
If your sure you want a Ram, at the very least, pay the $40.00 and have the tranny tested by a disinterested shop before purchase, IMHO.
NSDQ!

The '99 and '00 are more or less the same. They were messing around with little things between the years, but nothing major.
I just dropped $2,000 in a transmission swap in my '97 3/4 ton with 78,000 miles on it. But I was talking to a guy this weekend that has a '95 1/2 ton with 180,000 miles and he's still on the stock transmission. It's a crapshoot if you get an auto. Just my opinion.

When I picked up my 2000 1500 from a dealership I also picked up a 5year/100,000 mile warranty on the drivetrain which includes the tranny. It was an extra $2k, but I prefer the comfort that I have it, even if I don't end up using it.
leather: too cold in winter, too hot in summer. I'll take cloth personally.
oh, and BTW Nightstalker, nice paint, looks just like mine.
