Default headers for 4x4

i need some help. i was just about to order some pacesetterlong tubequik trip headers for my 98 5.2. they said they were for off-road use so i asumed they were for 4x4s but then i realized they were only for 4x2s. i suspect they have to say that because they are not emmisions friendly. anyways, does anyone out there know where i could get cheap long tube headers for my truck with 3" collectors or if i could make the pacesetters work?

I have never worked with pacesetters, but i've read other people with 4x4's have pacesetter headers on thier trucks. With everything else you get what you pay for and in headers that goes the same. A cheap set of headers will not give you very good long term results even with proper maintance of headers. Where was you looking at the pacesetters at? A simple search on this site may give ya the answers you need much faster then waiting on somebody to chime in.

The off road use in the description just means that they are not suppose to used on a pollution controlled vehicle, don't worry about it. The do not meet the EPA's full standards, so the manufacturer puts that on there to save their own butt.

Or they never paid enough to get a CARB exemption.

Headers won't affect your emissions. At. All. The EPA and CARB boards are just money rackets.

shorties are a direct bolt on replacement. long tubes need some reworking.

Anyone have any good tricks for getting the exhaust studs out without breaking the things?? 1997 1500 stock manifold has studs for the two mid bolts, they are of course pretty rusted up... a good rust buster is obvious.. but wanted to know of any experienced guys having any good tips on getting the studs out when I go to put my Gibson shorty's on.

Thanks!
