power door locks
On my 1999 Ram 1500, the power door locks work when you want to lock the doors, but they won't work to unlock the doors, sometimes if you wiggle the switch it will work, this is the same for both doors. The doors lock and unlock fine during start up and shut down with the ignition.
Any ideas?
thanks, Mike

I had this happen too.
Turns out some of the prongs in my switch weren't making a solid connection.
Pull the switch out of the door by sliding a small standard screwdriver under the bezel on the lock side of the control unit and shove it straight back toward the switch, then lift it out. Unplug it at the window switch end and inspect the connections. If any of the prongs are green or corroded, clean them with electric parts cleaner and use a dab of dielectric grease to seal them. If they are slightly bent, you can use a small screwdriver to gently bend them in the direction of the receiver on the female end.

could be the same problem, except that the prongs aren't touching at all. The smaller prongs in the middle work the locks, the larger ones carry window current.
it could also be that the lock switch itself is burnt out. the whole unit will have to be replaced in that case, the switches themselves are non serviceable parts. try a local junk yard. If you can find a 2000 or 2001 door switch, you can get the auto down feature on the driver's side.

I had a similiar problem with my 99 a few weeks after I got it, the fuse would blow anytime I tried to use the switch... not wanting to pull it apart and being pissed because I just got the truck I took it back to the stealership who called me a few hours later saying it was fine and they couldnt find a problem. apparently the problem fixed itself cause they didnt charge me, they said they didnt have a problem with it and it hasnt given me a problem since. the only thing I could think of is that the switch was bad and someone at the stealership just wanted to make my day. anyway I saw someone say something about the auto down on the driver side being 2000 and up... my 99 has always had it was that a 99 feture as well or an upgrade someone may have done?
I have had problems with my locks ever since I got my truck. Randomly my locks decide the switches dont need to work. I can hit the switch and it makes a noise like it wants to then nothing. It will do that for a day or so and then start working again. The doors always lock when I start driving. This is what I have figured out. who ever had the truck before me had an alarm and took it off when they traded it in. There is some wires that were just clipped of inside the kick panel. So I covered the ends with electric tape. It worked for a few months. Now it started doing it again. So b/c I am lazy now I just kick the kick panel and it fixes it.

I have the same problem, the door locks on my 99 gave up the ghost, passenger side first then the driver's side. Not lock and unlock have quit working. Ok, how the heck do you get the interior door panel off. Where do you begin to get at the door lock stuff. Has me baffled?
