I paid about $11,800 total for mine.

Had just under 50,000 miles when I bought it in September. 4x4, quad cab, gas 5.9L V8, $500 tonneau cover, spray-in bed liner, SLT Laramie package, heated mirrors, dimming rear view mirror, stainless steel panels, etc. etc., almost new 265x75R16 Hercules tires, interior is in mint condition with the sole exception of the cup holder (the passenger side clip is broken) and after replacing a broken headlight and straightening the bumper, the exterior is now in excellent condition. Oh, and most importantly, no sign of any problems with the transmission.

For a diesel, you will be paying more than a gas one of the same year with similar options. Our Dodges just seem to be worth more when they put the word "Cummins" on it. That being said, some people prefer their diesels, some hate them. Its personal preference.

yeah i can make money and i wouldnt sell it on here. id sell it on craigslist. i live in a mostly mexican town and they all want pickups. but do you think i can get a diesel for around 7500 or 8000? or how much am i lookin at. i want a 4x4 extended cab short bed
You could probably get a 1992 or 1993 innice shape for about that much if your looking at a ext. cab 4x4 CTD. Cummins hold their value$very well.

2wds get better mileage and are "faster", due to lower weight. If you want to be sporty you can have a 2wd and still lift it. Back in the day like 98' my friend Tony had a 96 Ram 5.2 2wd. We put a spindle and shackle lift on it. Then did a body lift. All in his front yard, it really wasn't even that hard, just a lot of little things to do when taking the cab off, the bed came right off. You need at leat 4-6 people for lifting, buy beers for them (when we did it we were too young for that so we just boiled crawfish). Mainly I am just saying get your buds to help. Then you have the look of a 4x4 without the extra hassle. (sorry guys, I just have always had problems with 4x4s, they take alot of money if you want to USE them right)

A diesel is better for those who use their truck for work, but its like $3.25 a gallon here and probaly more where you are(lots of refineries here). You have a good truck, just depends, what do you want?

If you want a huge 4x4 then you need to get that, if you just want a truck that nice and fast then you are one foot in the door.

+1

You're not going to find a nice diesel for 8000. So it really depends on if you need 4x4 or not.

When you do make it a 'beast', please don't complain about 8-10 mpg! Your lift will catch more air, you tires will have lower rolling resistance and be heavy, your transmission will crap out on you. This is your future. Have a great time. At least you will have a beast of a truck

Yeah, set aside money for transmission. So far I lucked out only having to pay 985 bucks for an overhaul. SO FAR. If had an extra 3-4k I'd put in one of the upperline Trannies like Dr Evil, or pull a heavy duty one and have a shop rebuild it PROPERLY. Once you get past Transmission, Plenum Leaks, Heater Cores, and little electrical things, then you can mod the heck outta these things. Just make sure you have the budget of 01DodgeRam360 and you'll be good to go!

The only way I would go with a 2wd in down.A 4x4 would give you more lifting options.
