Default Exhaust and 02 sensors

Alright I'm going to try to explain this and not make it confusing. I have cut the factory exhaust y-pipe and am now running true dual flowmaster super 44(which by the way sounds great) I am not running any catalytic convertersand both of my 02 sensors are screwed in my passenger side exhaust pipe. My check engine light comes on and says cylinder 6 and 8 are misfiring. I have changed plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. I have heard that not using catalytic converters is causing my check engine light to come on. Is this true? Is there a better way to have the 02 sensors set up? and would it be a good decision to get catalytic converters put on both sides? Thanks

i know that on camaros they make o2 sensor delete kits where you plug the thing into the electrical conection for the sensor goes for people that are running headers and it sends a false signal to the computer sayin that the o2 sensors are workin fine but i dont know if they make them for a dodge or if the camaro ones can be spliced in but that might be an option if you want to leave the cats off

Your check engine light came on because you removed the catalytic converter. The second O2 sensor exists to make sure the cat. con. is working. If it isn't (or if it is removed), the check engine light comes on.

You either need to reinstall the converter or find an O2 sensor simulator. I would reinstall the converter. You really won't notice much of a difference in performance, if any.

I have the same set up and have had no CEL and it's been over a year and I'm running normal O2's. If the lack of a cat was causing the CEL the code would reflect it. If your getting a misfire you have something ells going on.

Some people get a light and some people don't. For the upstream, the best thing to do is weld a bung in both sides, try the sensor on both sides (plugging the empty bung of course), and leave it in the side where your fuel trims look the best. For the downstream, if your getting a light ( and your exhaust is already done )it's probably best to run a sim. The Fastman sells them, or if you feel comfortable with that kind of stuff, ther are schematics out thereon the net that show how to make one. Some people have gotten by wrapping the old sensor in aluminum foil plugging it in and tie wrapping it up to the frame rail.

And I agree with the above statement that the misfire codes are unrelated, unless you are running with no upstream sensor at all.
