Where can I find a decent service manual? I've seen CD listed on Ebay but don't know if there any good. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I was offering specific information if you know what you're lookin' for, not a copy of the manual.
I only have one paper copy of the 1998 set and they are not for sale.

Get the code read at your local Autozone/Oreillys. They check them for free.

Did you realize you were resurrecting a thread that's been dead since 2004?

And an Owner's Manual won't tell you anything about trouble codes. You need a service manual for that. The link given by Trey is for a 2001 manual, but much of it is relevant to your '98.

I have a 1998 Ram 1500 Quad. I am trying to replace the half door cable so it will open from the inside. Is there a trick to this? The inside latch does not work. I took the old one off and it is 30" long. I bought a new one, that started as 27". I put it on and now took it off and it is now 30". What am I doing? Thanks.

I changed both in my 99. No porblems. What do you mena by "started as 27" " and now it is 30" ?

Did it stretch on you? The tricky part is securing the grooved end of jacket into slot on door handle after inserting end into fitting. Length of cable is not that critical.

Can you post pics of what is happening?
