Yes we have 5.2l 2 wheel drive Dodge Rams and we might bling them a little bit because we will never see dirt or have to tow the ark down from mount everestbut we both have in dash DVDs players FTW!!!!!

Yes, I am a hothod. Something I've always had a problem with. But you are still missing the point, your saying it's an ugly shoebox. Have you not looked at that truck? Everything has been done up about it, I think it's beautiful. If you don't like it or can't appreciate the look of an old styled truck, then that's your taste, but your just sitting here and saying its ugly. You can obviously tell I love the truck as much as mine, it was me and my brothers first truck. Prior to me having this ram, I had a gay *** neon, and I traded it in so I could have my own truck. I really lucked out too. I appreciate your comments on my truck, I love that thing too. But all I'm saying is there are different ways to address your opinion, and not making them derrogatory. I don't have anything against you, never have and sitll don't, but I did have an issue with the way you trashed on the relevance of the thread and the truck itself, just wasn't really nice. Other guys said they didn't like it, but they didn't said it was an ugly piece of ****, and didn't pick on the thread I made. I made the thread for the very reason it said, BORED. That's all.

Anyways, I'm chill now, just get a little offended when people just go comparing a very pretty and well done truck into something thats like disgusitng or somethng. Nobody can deny it's perfect. I dont see wahts wrong with a 5.2?

Ive driven them back to back with a 5.9... certain 5.2s were doggy, certain 5.9s are doggy... those engines are so insanely close.

I have no doubt in my mind that my 5.2 can tow every bit that a 5.9 could tow... I dont consider my truck a "race truck" but I know my 5.2 will pull on just about every 5.9 that ive come across...

Have I ever told the story about the old man with a 5.9 2wd ram that raced me?

 

No offense, but if you were go get a 5.9 vs a 5.2, both in same generation Ram 1500s, and they both had equivalent mods (ex. 50mm Fastman on 5.2 and 52mm on 5.9, dual exhaust sized right for both, etc.) and both had been maintained properly, the 5.9 will win every time.

Now I'm not saying the 5.2 is a bad engine. I loved it in my 1995 Dakota that I traded in for my Ram. Its not a bad engine for a Ram either, and it doesn't drink as much fuel. But making a general statement that a 5.2 will beat a 5.9 is just ridiculous. Would your modded 5.2 beat a stock 5.9? I am sure you could. But throw the equivalent mods on a 5.9 Ram 1500 the same year or close to yours, and it would beat you.

That being said, your truck would probably whoop my truck and then some.

 

I also think the 5.2L vs. 5.9L is completely bogus. The difference is so minimal in my opinion.

5.2L - 230hp (170kW) 300lb·ft (407N·m)

5.9L - 245hp (183kW) 330lb·ft (454N·m)

 

IMHO...

In the end, there is no substitute for cubic inches.

 

jason.w, So you want me to compair two truck of the same model (1500's), same everything, same mods, but different engine and see what happens. I think you could pretty much make that statement about any vehicle. But why do we have to have the same mods? But the thing im gonna catch you on is.... some of our 5.2's may be more mod'd than your 5.9. In the real world, not everyone keeps their engines themselves stock like yours. Which would makeyour argument Non Existing. I think the engines are so close in power output that it is compairing green apples to red apples. They are pretty much the same.

I think Silver_Dodge or PADodgeRam would be able to beat a 5.9 pretty much hands down.
