Default Shocks, ...suggestions??

I've got a '97 (Sport 4x4 club-cab) with 85,000 miles and I'm considering changing/upgrading the shocks.

Any suggestions/recommendations?
(...truck is not offroaded, ...just an infrequent daily driver/clean 'work' truck).

Thanks,
Kevin

...Thanks for the link. ( I tried a search earlier today, ...but it came up empty ..?)
Anyway, ...there's a WHOLE lot of info in a couple of those threads.

Thanks again,

Kevin

Rancho RS9000's...
I got the Rancho's, and they are just to stiff for me. But thats me. I do alot of running around town, no off roading.

Update: I just ordered the Monroe Sensatracs off a guy on ebay, couldn't beat the price. So hopefully I'll have a full report in a week or two. Might be selling the Ranchos.

I never get off road with mine so I put Monroe sensa-trac up front, and the Monroe load adjusters shocks in the back.

I agree they don't ride like a Cadillac, they were the right application for me tho and since u wont be leaving the pavement u could probably get away with something a lil cheaper......so i will revoke my suggestion...

Thanks for the suggestions...
I know it's a truck, ...but I don't want to make the ride too rough, ...yet I also carry stuff once in a while, ...so I want to stiffen it a little. Iknow it's a trade-off...

The RS9000x are a bit more pricey (roughly $100 per)than I'm looking for (but as you said, ...for the application, ...they do seem like excellent shocks).

I've been looking into Bilsteins (roughly $50 per), ...they seem to be decent.

But what about these "Monroe load adjusters shocks..." that someone mentioned. Those that have them, ...how are they? ...and do you recall the approx. price?(I know this is all subjective) ..just curious.

Thanks,
Kevin

I've also heard good things about Edelbrock's Performer IAS shocks. Not as stiff as Rancho 9000s, supposedly, but I'm kind of like you, I use the truck mostly for a DD and some light loads.

I know when I go and get new shocks some day, it will be between Bilsteins and the Edelbrocks. Ranchos are nice, but more for heavy duty or off-road use if I understand correctly, which I do neither of. The most off-road/heavy-duty that I do is once in a great while during the winter I pull a few cars from the ditch.

..."The most off-road/heavy-duty that I do is once in a great while during the winter I pull a few cars from the ditch. "

...I had to laugh at that, ...you would have been busy around here (Upstate NY) a week or so ago, ...cars everywhere (except on the road)

...I just did a price check on the Monroe's mentioned above, ...a full set (with the load adjusters in back) will run roughly $200.
Bilsteins (which I'm still considering will be $235)

The Edelbrocks (Performer IAS) look pretty darn good too (I actually like these), ...price on them starts to go up again though, ...$340 for a set of four.

...You get what you pay for as they say. I think I'm still leaning towards the Bilsteins...

Decisions, decisions...

Thanks again...
