What kind of mileage are you getting?
12-15 is good for your truck.

Other than that the best mods for mileage are little itty bitty tires, weight reduction, and keeping your foot off the skinny pedal.

15-17???

No offense man, but I think you're dreaming. Maybe you'll get that on the highway, but thats at very best. 17 or 18 is considered good for the 5.2, a 5.9 drinks a bit more.

Well then you're getting decent mileage. Wouldn't worry about it. If it starts to get bad you might have a plenum leak, but as it is it looks like everything is okay.

Back to your original question.

Stock Tires: 245/75/16. If you want larger, get something with a low rolling resistance rating. (no mudders)
Tune Up: Dist/Rotor/Wires/Plug
O2 Sensors: Downstream (had mine replaced and cannot vouche about it).
Go Synthetic: Motor/Axles
Driving Style: driving like you have an egg under the throttle.
Transmission: a good transmission will help, make sure you are getting TQ Lockup.

I am sure there are more, but these are the ones i stick to.

You can get your MPG up to 15.5 or better
as an average for all driving with
choice of tires,
some aero mods,
and a few inexpensive changes.

This is a long read:

https://dodgeforum.com/m_447500/tm.htm

with more money spent
you can get your city MPG for a gasoline Ram to 17
and highway MPG to 20 MPG at a steady windless 70 mph
with a 5.9 V8

On the other hand
a 1998.5 Cummins Ram 12V 2wd
will get those numbers on diesel with stock tires and no mods
